Shockwave Therapy

Treating You Better

DolorClast® Radial Shockwave

The Swiss DolorClast shockwave machine is the market leader in extracorporeal shockwave therapy machines, and the brand that has led the clinical research. So you can rest assured it is clinically tested and proven in it’s effectiveness.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

How it works

A shock wave is a single acoustic pulse characterised by a rapid rise to a high peak pressure followed by a rapid drop to below ambient pressure. They are sent to the affected area from the point of contact on the skin’s surface.

The Swiss DolorClast® Method uses single acoustic pressure waves to treat musculoskeletal pathologies. It offers the propagation of radial shock waves – to optimise treatment results.

Shock Waves are movements of extremely high pressure caused by, for example, an explosion, an earthquake or a plane breaking the sound barrier. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is the application of Shock Waves in medicine.

It is clinically proven that pressure waves, when applied to injured tissues, stimulate metabolic reactions:

  • Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibers
  • Increase of blood circulation in surrounding soft tissues
  • Beginning of healing process triggered by stem cells activation

Shockwave therapy is an effective non-invasive clinically proven treatment for injured soft tissue, specifically tendons and plantarfascia, when the injury has reached the chronic non -healing phase. It is a safe alternative to surgery or injections. It is clinically proven to stimulate the correct metabolic reactions to facilitate healing, and is NICE guideline recommended for several conditions (see below).

It stimulates healing through encouraging enzymes and blood flow, which reduces pain quickly and brings about lasting benefits, making these difficult, chronic conditions treatable in just a few sessions.

What makes DolorClast® Radial Shockwave so unique?

The Swiss DolorClast shockwave machine is the market leader in shockwave machines, and the brand that has led the clinical research. Bench studies demonstrate that the DolorClast® Radial Shock Waves delivers up to 200% more energy density than competing devices at frequencies of 15 Hz and above and maximum pressure.

What will benefit from Shockwave Treatment?

  • Tennis Elbow
  • Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy
  • Biceps Tendinopathy
  • Chronic Frozen Shoulders
  • Hamstring Tendinopathy

When is Shockwave not appropriate?

The following contraindications of ESWT® using the Swiss DolorClast® must be considered:

  • Treatment over air-filled tissue (lung, gut)
  • Treatment of pre-ruptured tendons
  • Treatment of pregnant women
  • Treatment of patients under the age of 18 years
  • Treatment of patients with blood-clotting disorders (including local thrombosis)
  • Treatment of patients treated with oral anticoagulation
  • Treatment of tissue with local tumors or local bacterial and/or viral infections
