Pregnancy Pain

Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) is common affecting 1 in 5 pregnant women and describes pain arising from the symphysis pubis joint, sacro-iliac joints and/or lumbar spine. The term Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction or SPD was previously used.

Pain can be experienced at the front or back of the pelvis, the lower back or abdomen and/or into the thighs. Women can experience a range of different symptoms, which can vary in intensity.

Women with PGP need a qualified health professional to fully assess the pelvis and lumbar spine and give individual appropriate advice. Assessment includes a full examination of your pelvis, spine and hip joints and the related muscle control and function.

Your physiotherapist will work with you to create a treatment plan which helps to alleviate symptoms and reduce pain.

  • I would not go any where else and would be happy to be treated by any of their team. Thank you

  • Beyond satisfied with my treatment I had here. The staff are friendly and professional and fastidious with identifying causes of injury or discomfort. Mr Gowan was excellent in sorting out problems which were hampering my running ability. In a matter of weeks I was back running again, and all with a better understanding of longer-term measures I can take to stay injury free.

  • I have had wonderful pre- and post- op hip replacement support that has contributed to my excellent recovery. Lots of helpful exercises as well as hands-on treatments have all contributed to this new lease of mobility capacity. Thank you SO much.

  • I have been there twice to see Dale - once for a Sports Massage and once for physio (pinched nerve). Always great service, very police and friendly! My go-to place moving forward.
