Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation (VR) is a specialized form of physiotherapy intended to alleviate both the primary and secondary problems associated with vestibular disorders.
It is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, reduce gaze instability, and/or reduce imbalance and falls risk. It can also address any secondary impairments that are a consequence of the vestibular disorder
Our vestibular specialist will do a detailed assessment to determine where the balance mechanisms are deficient. The exercises are then customised to address the specific problem(s) of each individual.
They are also trained to execute The Epley maneuver or repositioning maneuver - a technique used to treat a common cause of vertigo. In cases where the cause of the vertigo is the inner ear crystals, this technique has a high success rate and often one session is enough.
